Traffic Safety: Radar Speed Sign
Pierce County puts up a radar speed sign along Crescent Valley drive for brief periods a couple of times each year, but it's only installed for a few weeks before they take it down and move it somewhere else. After several years of trying to work with Pierce County to get a permanent radar speed sign installed without success, the association bought our own speed sign. We worked with the East Gig Harbor Water District to install the sign on their property (outside the county road right-of-way).
Our sign was installed in March of 2022, but by January of 2023, Pierce County came and removed the sign without any notice or even informing anyone in the association. Fortunately, we were able to locate the sign--at a Pierce County road maintenance yard. The excuse from the Pierce County was that the sign was the wrong color!
We have recovered the sign, but we are still trying to work with Pierce County to find a permanent solution.
